What this category covers

• Annual sets: the yearly set of circulating euro coins, from various years between 2002 and 2016, including the 2005 Sede Vacante set.
• Commemorative 2 euro: 2 euro coins with a dedicated subject, from various years between 2005 and 2016. For 2013 there are two issues, one of them for the Sede Vacante.

The Vatican gold 10 and 50 euro coins are in the Vatican Gold category; the lira annual sets up to 2001 are in John Paul II and Paul VI.

Popes and Sede Vacante

The Vatican has used the euro since 2002. The annual issues follow the pontificates: John Paul II until 2005, Benedict XVI from 2005 to 2013, Francis from 2013 to 2025. The Sede Vacante issues mark the period between the end of a pontificate and the election of the successor: in 2005 after the death of John Paul II, in 2013 after the resignation of Benedict XVI.

Grade
