San Marino

What you will find in this category

The pieces cover more than a century of San Marino coins, but the largest part concerns the years from 1972 onwards.

• Annual sets: one item per year, for several years between 1972 and 1998, plus an annual set of 2003. The name gives only the year and the grade.
• 1,000 Lire of 1997.
• Gold scudi: pairs of 1 and 2 Scudi from the 1970s, 5 Scudi and 2 Scudi of various years up to 2015. You will find them gathered in the subcategory Gold Scudi.
• 5 Lire of 1898 in silver, listed as rare.
• Collector euro issues, such as the 10 Euro 2016 for the Jubilee of Mercy and the 20 Euro 2019 dedicated to the Council of Europe.

Lira and euro

San Marino used the lira until 2001 and has used the euro since 2002, like Italy. This is why the annual sets up to 1998 have denominations in lire, while the more recent issues have denominations in euro or in scudi.

How to read the item pages

Almost all the pieces are in Uncirculated condition (FDC): never circulated, with no signs of wear. The 1898 5 Lire are in about Extremely Fine (qSPL) and in Extremely Fine, slightly better (SPL+). Hovering over the code on the item page shows its explanation. In the catalogue you can filter by metal, period, grade, price and rarity.
