Vatican Silver

What this category covers

Here you will find the Vatican silver issues for the 1978 Sede Vacante. There are two separate product pages: one bears the legend "September MCMLXXVIII", the other the date MCMLXXVIII alone. Both are offered in their original case. The name does not give the grade: look at the photo or use the "Ask about this piece" button.

Why two Sede Vacante issues in 1978

"Sede Vacante" is the period between the end of a pontificate and the election of the next pope. In 1978 the see fell vacant twice: in August, after the death of Paul VI, and between September and October, after the death of John Paul I.
