Carlo Emanuele II (1638–1675)

What this category covers

This is the place for the coins of Carlo Emanuele II, Duke of Savoy from 1638 to 1675, in gold and silver. The same denomination often comes in several types, that is different designs: on the product pages the type is given in the name, for example "V tipo" (fifth type).

Background

Carlo Emanuele II was the son of Duke Vittorio Amedeo I and Christine of France. He succeeded his brother Francesco Giacinto in 1638 and reigned his first years under his mother's regency. On his death in 1675 he was succeeded by his son Vittorio Amedeo II, whose coins are in the category Vittorio Amedeo II (1675–1730).

The coins of the other rulers are in the parent category House of Savoy.

Frequently asked questions

How do I read the abbreviations on the product pages?

The grading abbreviations range from MB (Fine) to BB (Very Fine), SPL (Extremely Fine) and FDC (Uncirculated, the coin as it left the mint); "q" stands for "quasi", meaning "about", as in qSPL. On every product page, hover over the abbreviation to read its explanation, together with the rarity.
