Background

Carlo Emanuele IV was the son of Vittorio Amedeo III, whom he succeeded in 1796. In 1798 he left Piedmont, occupied by the French, and withdrew to Sardinia; in 1802 he abdicated in favour of his brother Vittorio Emanuele I.

The coins of his father and his brother are in the categories Vittorio Amedeo III (1773–1796) and Vittorio Emanuele I; all the rulers are in the parent category House of Savoy.

Frequently asked questions

How do I read the abbreviations on the product pages?

The grading abbreviations range from MB (Fine) to BB (Very Fine), SPL (Extremely Fine) and FDC (Uncirculated, the coin as it left the mint); "q" stands for "quasi", meaning "about", as in qSPL. On every product page, hover over the abbreviation to read its explanation, together with the rarity.
