Carlo Alberto

What the category brings together

Carlo Alberto reigned from 1831 to 1849, when he abdicated in favour of his son Vittorio Emanuele II. The pieces for sale are all gold: 20 Lire struck in Turin and in Genoa, with dates from 1831 to 1849, and a 100 Lire of Turin of 1835.

Varieties and rarity

Several 20 Lire of the early years, from 1831 to 1834, are listed as rare or very rare. In the name you will also find the variety, for example “contorno rigato” (reeded edge) or the 1834 20 Lire “senza segno di zecca” (without mint mark). If you are looking for a specific variety, check the name and the photo on the item page.

How to choose

For some years, such as 1831, 1832 and 1842, you will find both Turin and Genoa. The grade ranges from BB+ (Very Fine) to SPL+/qFDC (Extremely Fine, About Uncirculated): hovering over the code shows its explanation. For other details use the “Ask about this piece” button.
